The Complete Guide to Kitchen Countertop Installation in Lagos

A stone countertop is only as good as its installation. This guide walks you through each stage, so you know what to expect and how to prepare.

Step 1: Plan your kitchen

Decide your layout, cabinet positions, sink and hob. Choose the stone (marble, granite or quartz) and the look you want. If you are unsure, read our quartz vs marble vs granite comparison.

Step 2: Install the base cabinets

Base cabinets must be fixed, strong and level before the countertop is measured. Any movement or unevenness will show in the stone.

Step 3: Site measurement

We visit to measure every run, corner and island precisely and confirm the sink, hob and tap positions. Accurate measurement is the foundation of a good fit.

Step 4: Fabrication

The stone is cut to size, edges are shaped and polished, and openings are cut for the sink, hob and taps. Undermount sinks need especially careful, polished cut-outs.

Step 5: Installation

The pieces are positioned on the cabinets, levelled and secured. Joints are bonded and finished, and edges are polished on site where needed. Upstands or backsplashes are fitted last.

Step 6: Finishing and handover

We clean the surface, check levels and joints, and explain how to care for your new countertop.

• Make sure cabinets are installed and empty
• Clear access to the kitchen for carrying heavy stone
• Have the sink and hob on site or their exact sizes ready
• Arrange for power to be available
